Ministers from UAE, India, Egypt to discuss global energy outlook

MENA Newswire News Desk: Over 40 ministers and more than 200 C-suite executives and technology pioneers from across the Middle East, Asia, Africa, Europe, and the Americas will convene in Abu Dhabi for ADIPEC 2024, aiming to foster partnerships that accelerate the global energy transition. Hosted by ADNOC from 4th-7th November, the event operates under the theme “Connecting Minds. Transforming Energy,” marking 40 years of energy leadership with a focus on integrating artificial intelligence (AI) into the energy sector.

Ministers from UAE, India, Egypt to discuss global energy outlook

Dr. Sultan bin Ahmed Al Jaber, UAE’s Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, COP28 President, and ADNOC Managing Director and Group CEO, will deliver the keynote address at the opening ceremony. Following his address, a ministerial panel titled “The New Global Leaders and the Energy Transition” will feature ministers from the UAE, India, and Egypt, discussing how emerging economies are redefining the global energy landscape by balancing energy demand, technological progress, environmental priorities, and economic growth.

ADIPEC 2024 Chair and ADNOC Offshore CEO Tayba Al Hashemi expressed anticipation for the event, stating, “ADIPEC 2024 will unite global industry and technology leaders to unlock opportunities that can accelerate the energy transition and catalyze innovative solutions integrating energy and AI more effectively.” She emphasized the event’s solution-oriented approach, which promises a forward-looking perspective on global energy challenges.

Among the high-profile international speakers are Suhail bin Mohammed Al Mazrouei, UAE Minister of Energy and Infrastructure; Karim Badawi, Egypt’s Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources; Hardeep S Puri, India’s Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas; Haitham Al-Ghais, Secretary-General of OPEC; Mohamed bin Mubarak Bin Daina, Bahrain’s Minister of Oil and Environment; and Edgar Moyo, Zimbabwe’s Minister of Energy. Each will share insights into energy strategy, development, and sustainability.

The event’s lead CEO panel, titled “Meeting Escalating Global Energy Demand While Transitioning to a Low-Carbon System,” will address balancing global energy needs with ambitious decarbonization goals. Industry leaders such as Murray Auchincloss, CEO of bp; Wael Sawan, CEO of Shell; Tengku Muhammad Taufik, President and Group CEO of PETRONAS; and Claudio Descalzi, CEO of Eni, will discuss strategic energy solutions essential for sustainable growth and resilience.

Top executives like Joseph McMonigle, Secretary-General of the International Energy Forum, Alfred Stern, CEO of OMV, and Proscovia Nabbanja, CEO of Uganda National Oil Company, will address the integration of AI, efficiency, and decarbonization, with perspectives from other notable figures such as Fred Krupp, President of the Environmental Defense Fund, and Sophie Hildebrand, CTO of ADNOC.

A broad range of sectors will be represented at ADIPEC 2024, from Microsoft and Schneider Electric in technology to DP World and AD Ports Group in logistics. Financial leaders from Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank, Standard Chartered, and Morgan Stanley will discuss the critical role of sustainable investment models in supporting a low-carbon future, while AI firms like Boomitra will demonstrate technology’s potential in advancing efficiency and sustainability. ADIPEC 2024 underscores collaborative action, with key voices in energy and technology working to redefine energy and economic systems for a sustainable future.
